Paul da Praia da Vitória
Paul da Praia da Vitória was referred to in one of the first book publications on nature conservation in Portugal in 1956 as follows: "And to give you a national example of the problems of bird protection, I can point out to you the case of the Moorhen of Terceira Island, in the Azores. This bird, which in the whole world only exists, is threatened to disappear because it only reproduces and makes nest in Paul da Praia, paul that is to be transformed and urbanized after its drying.
Paul do Belo Jardim
Did you knew that the Riviera Beach was once the stage of the first great summer festival after April 25, 1974. The Festival came from a group of friends from Praia da Vitória (Carlos Costa, Carlos Parreira and Luís Dores) and the chosen venue was the Beach of the Riviera for being a place very well known and appreciated by outsiders. The festival "Musical Açores" name that gave the event took place on July 10 and 11, 1976 and August 13 and 14, 1977 and had tens of thousands of people in both editions. Today the outsiders remember the festival as the "Riviera Festival". (Information collected from the website http://www.musicalacores.com/ - Projeto da Associação Cultural Burra de Milho).
Paul da Pedreira do Cabo da Praia
It originated in the excavation that reached the water table, during the construction of a quarry in the industrial area of Cabo da Praia. Its ornithological importance is recognized internationally.

Coastal Wetland Restoration
Ecological Restoration and Conservation of the Green Coastal Wet Infrastructure of Praia da Vitória
About 500 years ago the bay of Praia da Vitória consisted, before human intervention, of an extensive crescent-shaped beach with a few km of extension, to which was associated a network of coastal wetlands of brackish water whose ecosystem dynamics and stability was guaranteed by dune dynamics. The local settlement implied deep disturbances of anthropogenic origin, namely the drying and the landfill of said wetlands.
Since it is not possible to reverse and replace the original situation, since there are important infrastructures built along the bay from the point of view of the functioning of the city, this project proposes to guarantee the existence of a network of wetlands that composes between a green infrastructure on the coast with similar ecosystem characteristics and functions as the initial ones through the recovery, ecological restoration and reorganization of three key wetlands: Paul da Praia da Vitória, Paul do Belo Jardim and Paul da Pedreira, constituting a integrating network of wetlands with different characteristics associated with different avifauna types.
